Getting here
Located on South Street in Murdoch, the campus is close to Perth’s CBD and just 8km from Fremantle. Murdoch University encourages staff, students and visitors to consider sustainable options when travelling to and from our campuses. With links to bicycle networks and public transport, choosing an affordable, convenient or environmentally sustainable way to get here is easy.
Cycling to campus
Perth is an ideal city for cycling due to its mostly flat terrain and beautiful weather. Murdoch University is well connected to cycling networks. For comprehensive bike maps for cycling around metropolitan Perth, refer to the YourMove journey planner and WestCycle websites, or plan your route using Google Maps.
A pedestrian underpass provides a crossing point under South Street between entry B and C, and a network of footpaths and bike lanes are available on campus for walkers and cyclists. The iconic pedestrian and cycle friendly Broadwalk runs through the centre of campus and connects all campus precincts to Murdoch Train Station. Bicycles can be taken on trains, but there are restrictions during peak periods. See the Transperth website for more information.
Murdoch University provides various end-of-trip facilities for staff and students who cycle to campus. Personal bike lockers and covered locked compounds are available, as well as bike racks outside many of our buildings.
End of trip facilities
Bike racks
With bike racks to accommodate over 350 bikes located across campus, parking your bike near your class or office is quick and convenient.
Bike compounds
Covered bike compounds are available at three locations across campus, accommodating 96 bikes. Access to bike compounds is free for staff and students.
Bike compounds are located at:
- Carpark 4

Personal bike lockers
Personal bike lockers are available at five locations across campus, accommodating 16 bikes. Lockers are large enough to store a bike and personal belongings (e.g. backpack).
Note, these lockers are not suitable for e-scooters or e-bikes as they are not temperature controlled nor ventilated. As a result, the inside of the locker may overheat, and this can potentially cause damage to batteries.
Hire of personal bike lockers is $40 per semester, with a deposit of $45 refundable on return of locker keys.
Locations to all bike storage can be seen on Murdoch maps.
Contact Student Central to arrange access to a personal bike locker or compound.

Bikes should be registered with Bikelinc, powered by Crime Stoppers WA. The University does not accept responsibility for damage to or loss of bicycles, accessories, or personal belongings on university land.
