Determining face-to-face attendance requirements for your course

The temporary flexibility from the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act provided during the COVID pandemic wound back as of 30 June 2023, and international student visa holders are again required to comply with face-to-face attendance requirements under the ESOS National Code.

If you commenced your course from 30 June 2023, you need to ensure that you complete at least two-thirds of your overall course in face-to-face units. The examples below show face-to-face credit point requirements for common course types.

What happens if you don't meet face-to-face requirements

Murdoch University has an obligation to comply with the ESOS National Code, and if you are an international student visa holder, it is your responsibility to comply with your visa conditions to meet your attendance requirements.

From 2025, we will take the opportunity to remind you of your requirements each time you enrol in a mixed mode or online unit, and again when you are reaching close to exceeding your mixed mode or online allowance. However, if you exceed one-third of your overall course in mixed mode or online units, there may be consequences applied.

To support you to comply with your visa attendance requirements, you will see an indicator on your MyInfo student dashboard showing:

  • How many credit points you can complete online or mixed mode for your overall course.
  • How many online or mixed mode credit points you have completed so far.
