Murdoch University Access Engineering Scholarship
The Murdoch University Access Engineering Scholarship seeks to widen participation and support students from underrepresented groups in a field of study that is becoming increasingly important and impactful for a sustainable future. This Scholarship will support students who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, students from regional and remote areas, females wanting to study STEM, students who are ‘first generation’ to attend university, students experiencing financial hardship, students who are LGBTQIA, and others who have experienced hardship.
Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship you must:
- be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, Permanent Resident, or on a Humanitarian Visa
- be graduating from Year 12 in the year prior to commencing Bachelor Engineering Honours
- be from an underrepresented, equity, or marginalised group
- Meet entry requirements for the Bachelor Engineering Honours
- Have a supporting personal statement and a reference.
Successful candidates must study full-time internally at Murdoch University and be commencing their first year of tertiary study.

Personal Statement (250-300 words).
Please address the following key areas in your personal statement:
- On what basis you are applying for the Scholarship, and any barriers you have overcome to complete your secondary schooling
- how receipt of this Scholarship will help you attain your study goals, and
- how you hope to use your Engineering degree in the future.
Reference from your School and / or community leader who can comment on your personal situation, eligibility for this scholarship, your good character, and your motivation to study and succeed in Engineering.
In the case of Financial Hardship, a statement / evidence of same.

Payment Method
Payments will be made directly into your nominated bank account in the following instalments for up to 4 years:
- $1,500 in week 7 or 8 of the semester you are awarded
- $1,500 in week 7 or 8 of the consecutive second semester
All payments are subject to your acceptance and ongoing compliance with the terms and conditions of the award.
