Alan and Iris Peacocke Research Scholarship

Mr Peacocke was born in 1911, and as a young man, worked in the Wheatbelt region before enlisting in the Australian Imperial Forces. Alan later moved from Perth to Tasmania for the cooler climate and worked at the Repatriation Department (now the Department of Veteran Affairs) for 30 years. Alan was well known for his passion for gardening and both he and his father shared an admiration for the writings of Sir Walter Murdoch so when he inherited his sister’s estate, he was inspired to support Murdoch students and research.
