ARC Indigenous Discovery Aboriginal Youth Racism Project
Earn while you study! The Aboriginal Youth Racism Project is a 3-year research project funded by the Australian Research Council. The objective of this project is to test a new model for assessing covert racism experienced by Indigenous youth, which includes the roles and responsibilities of non-Indigenous agents. This model can be utilised to guide evidence-based interventions to address multiple forms of racism against Indigenous Australians.
This is a fully funded PhD stipend to support the candidate to work toward obtaining their PhD on either a full-time or part-time basis. The candidate will be supported to develop a program of research focused on data from Indigenous youth. Their project will utilise either qualitative data (yarning circle, focus group), quantitative data (daily diary surveys) or a mix of both, depending on their research question(s) and interests. Youth data will focus on types, frequencies, and impacts of daily microaggressions on Aboriginal youth wellbeing. There will be opportunities for training in advanced statistical analysis (multilevel modelling of longitudinal data) as well as Indigenous research methodologies.

Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship, you must:
- Have completed an undergraduate degree with honours and/or a Research Masters in the fields of psychology, social science, public health, Indigenous Research Methodologies, epidemiology or related fields.
- Have willingness to work in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Show an understanding of survey methodology and basic regression analysis (for candidates interested in a quantitative project).
- Show a passion for working with Indigenous adolescents (12-18 years).
- Be able to be based in Perth, Western Australia (if applicable).

Payment Method
$30,000 per year (tax free) for 3.5 years full-time study (or part-time equivalent).
Payments of $1,153 per fortnight.
