New Colombo Plan Scholarship
The New Colombo Plan (NCP) offers you the opportunity to benefit from study and internships/mentorships in the Indo Pacific region for up to 18 months. The NCP is a signature initiative from the Australian Government to increase knowledge of the Indo Pacific with a committed $40 million to support 120 NCP scholarships commencing in 2025.
We can nominate up to 15 eligible students and nominees are not ranked in any order by us and have equal chances against students from across the country. If we receive more than 15 applications, a committee will determine the quality of all applications and nominate the top 15.

Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship you must:
- be an Australian citizen
- not be a current or dual citizen or permanent resident of your proposed primary location or secondary location
- be enrolled, until completion of all overseas study components, in at least one bachelor degree or bachelor honours degree unit at Murdoch University, excluding Veterinary Science, Nursing and Chiropractic Science.
- be undertaking, until completion of all study components, at least one bachelor degree or bachelor honours degree
- be between 18 and 30 years of age (inclusive) for non-Indigenous applicants, or between 18 and 35 years of age (inclusive) for Indigenous applicants on 1 January 2025.
- have achieved a minimum of 70% graded average or equivalent for their undergraduate course at the time of application
- not be a previous recipient of a scholarship under the NCP program.
How to Apply
If you are eligible and want to be considered as a nominee for Murdoch University, you need to:
- Attend one of the following compulsory online and interactive information sessions:
- Thursday 23rd May, 360.4.020 14.30pm - 15.15pm - in person info session (link to register)
- Wednesday 29th May, 12.30pm - 13.15pm - online (link to register)
- Find a host university and discuss academic credit with your Academic Chair, if possible.
- Compile the required documents outlined below and email them to studyabroad@murdoch.edu.au by 12.00pm AWST, Tuesday 20th June, 2024.
Next steps
After submitting your expression of interest to us, up to 15 candidates will be selected and nominated to the Australia Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). After nomination, you will be invited to apply for the 2025 NCP Scholarship. If shortlisted, you will be required to attend an online interview. If you pass the last stage you will be awarded an NCP scholarship at the awards ceremony in Canberra (you will be flown there).
Required Documents
This scholarship requires you to provide the following documents:
- expression of interest form, which will be emailed to you once you attend one of the compulsory information sessions
- a copy/scan of your official Murdoch University academic transcript
If you are selected and shortlisted for an interview, you will be contacted by a representative of the NCP Scholarships team and asked for permission (by them) to undertake a 'police check'.
Payment Method
Payments apply before and during the study abroad period. You will be paid by the Australian Government.
