The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University was established in 1974 as a teaching hospital to support the School of Veterinary Medicine and has helped to train generations of veterinarians from around the world. By supporting our hospital, you are making a significant contribution to the training and development of our future vets and veterinary specialists.

Our hospital offers a multidisciplinary referral service, providing a streamlined team approach to referred cases. With state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, along with our highly skilled team of Veterinarians, Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Nurse Assistants and Animal Assistants, The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University can provide the range of medical support and care that your pet needs.

We also have Equine and Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care teams that are available 24/7, who are highly trained in triaging, treating and managing animals that require emergent and live-saving treatment.

The Animal Hospital is proud to have Fear Free certified professionals on our team. This means our staff have the knowledge and tools to not only look after a pet's physical wellbeing but also their emotional wellbeing.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Our Primary Care clinic provides a general practice service in-hours, from Monday to Friday. We also have a Large Animal clinic which performs both ambulatory (on-farm) and in-hospital first-opinion consultations, in-hours from Monday to Friday.

You will require a referral letter from your regular veterinarian to visit the following departments The Animal Hospital:

  • Specialist small animal surgery
  • Small animal medicine 
  • Small animal MRI and CT
  • Equine MRI and CT

You do not require a referral from your regular veterinarian to visit the following departments:

  • Emergency and critical care
  • Large animal services (including Equine Medicine, Equine Surgery, Reproduction, Production Animal Services)
  • Small animal primary Care
For all our standard services, payment is required on the day of your appointment. We now also offer Vet Pay, Zip Money and Zip Pay. For further information around payments, please refer to our payment information page.
