Professor Hosgood is a Small Animal Surgery Specialist certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, the European College of Veterinary Surgeons, and the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. She undertook advanced training and post-graduate studies in Australia and the US, remaining in the US to teach and practice specialist surgery at two veterinary schools for 24 years before re-joining Murdoch in 2009 to head the Small Animal Surgery Section. Her primary area of clinical and research interest in soft tissue and oncologic surgery, with additional experience in clinical research study design and analysis. Professor Hosgood has contributed significantly to the veterinary literature with over 260 articles published on surgical techniques, and clinical research.

Mark is Associate Professor of Small Animal Surgery and leads Murdoch’s Orthopaedic referral service. He is an Australian, European and RCVS registered Small Animal Surgery Specialist certified by the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. Mark has a master’s degree in Veterinary Surgery, is a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and has a Higher Diploma in Education. He undertook advanced surgical training in Australia, UK and Ireland before joining Murdoch in 2006. He is an internationally recognized and awarded teacher and chairs the AOVET Education Commission. He teaches internationally in orthopaedics and arthroscopy.

Resident in Small Animal Surgery

Ally is a surgical resident in Small Animal Surgery at The Animal Hospital Murdoch University. After graduating from Murdoch University in 2016, Ally commenced work in general practice for three years in the beautiful South West Region of Western Australia. Following this, she completed a surgical internship in 2020 at CARE Melbourne. Upon completion, Ally returned to Perth in 2021 to begin a surgical traineeship at TAHMU, completing a graduate diploma in higher education during the traineeship. She then began a three year surgical residency at TAHMU in 2022, completing a Masters in Veterinary Clinical Studies in 2023. Ally enjoys being a part of a team that are dedicated to helping animals and owners daily.

Resident in Small Animal Surgery

Milly is originally from WA and completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 at Murdoch University. She then worked in a variety of different veterinary jobs including voluntary work overseas, mixed practice and emergency medicine in Tasmania and general practice in Queensland. She moved back to Perth in 2022 where she completed a 12 month surgical internship at Western Australian Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (WAVES). She then completed a 12 month surgical traineeship at Murdoch University in 2023, and is currently in her first year of 3 year surgical residency program. She enjoys a variety of surgical cases and is currently completing a masters in veterinary clinical studies.

Resident in Small Animal Surgery

After completing his veterinary science degree at Massey University in 2018, Sean then completed rotating and surgical internships at a large referral hospital in Queensland. Sean is currently a second year resident in small animal surgery. During his time at Murdoch he has completed a research masters investigating portal vein pressure changes during liver and splenic resections and is concurrently completing a clinical masters degree. He enjoys the varied surgical case load on offer at The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University.
