The surgical facility is located in close proximity to the equine barn, where patients have a short walk to the padded induction boxes. Our theatres are designed to utilise both induction boxes and overhead hoists, from soft tissue and orthopaedic theatre, which enables us to perform multiple surgeries simultaneously.
In theatre our anaesthesia team have state of the art anaesthesia equipment, including a Tafonius ventilator, invasive blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry, capnography, ECG and blood gas analysis. The padded induction rooms have continuous CCTV monitoring, to assist the team in ensuring the patient has a smooth and safe recovery.
We have a full range of the latest AO / ASIF equipment and implant technology to perform fracture repair, which is supported by intraoperative radiographs, fluoroscopy and ultrasound. We are also able to perform preoperative CT of fractures, followed immediately with repair in theatre under the same general anaesthetic. Soon, we will also be able to provide CT-guided surgery.
Not all surgical procedures require a general anaesthetic, many are able to be performed under standing sedation. Our standing surgery, located next to the theatres, allows complex surgeries to be performed whilst the patient remains standing. These include laparoscopy, wound repairs, sinus surgery, fracture repairs and laser surgery.
